What is Diabetes

Diabetes is a Chronic disease in which your blood sugar or blood glucose levels are too high. A hormone (insulin)  that helps the glucose get into your cells to give them energy. In type 1 diabetes, your body does not produce insulin. In type 2 diabetes ( which is the most common), your body does not make or use insulin well. Without insulin the glucose halt in your blood. In this case, you can have prediabetes. In prediabetes, your blood sugar level is higher than average, but not too high enough or prediabetes can put you at risk of type 2 diabetes.

After some time, having too much glucose in your blood can cause the severe condition. It can damage your nerves, kidneys, and eyes. Diabetes can cause heart disease, stroke or even heart failure. In the pregnant situation, women can get diabetes, called gestational diabetes.

The blood test can explain if you have diabetes. A test “A1C”, can also check on how you are managing your diabetes. You can also monitor your glucose levels and take medicine if prescribed.

Early symptoms of diabetes:

How can you describe if you have diabetes? Diabetes symptoms are from higher than normal levels of glucose, a type of sugar, in your blood. The warning signs can hide that you don’t notice them. That’s in especially type 2 diabetes; its symptoms are hidden. Some people’s don’t find out the symptoms of diabetes and they have it until they get difficulties from long-term damage caused by the disease.

Symptoms of type 2 diabetes:

Type 2 diabetes symptoms show up after your glucose in your blood has been high for a long time.

Slow healing sores and cuts:

After some time, high blood sugar levels can affect your blood flow and can cause nerve damage that makes it hard for your body to heal gash. Numbness or pain in your feet or legs is another sign of nerve damage.

Infections:

Men and women both can get infection or yeast infections.  Yeast feeds in glucose, make the chances of infections thrive. Infections can thrive in any warm, moist fold of skin, like between fingers and toes, in or around sex organs, under breasts.

Other symptoms:

Nausea and vomiting: when your body starts to burning fat, it makes “ketones”. Ketones can build up in your blood to risky levels, a possible life-threatening situation called diabetic ketoacidosis. Ketones can cause you to feel sick to your stomach.

Weight loss: when your body can’t get energy from your food, it can start burning fat and muscle for energy instead. You may lose your weight even though you have not changed how you eat.

Tell your doctor: if you are older than 42 to 45 or have other risks for diabetes, it’s very important to get tested. When you face the condition early, you can elude nerve damage, heart trouble, and other complications.

As a primary rule, call your doctor if you:

  • Have a bad belly ache
  • Are peeing again and again
  • Are breathing faster than normal and more deeply

If you have sweet breath that smells like nail polish remover. (It is the sign of high ketones.)

Also, check Causes of depression

Diabetes Treatments:

The significant achievement in treating diabetes is to control blood sugar levels within the normal range, with less excursion to low and high levels.

Type 1 diabetes treatment is:

  • Insulin
  • Type 1 diabetes diet
  • Excercise

Type 2 diabetes treatment is:

  • Type 2 diabetes diet
  • Exercise
  • With weight reduction
  • Oral medications
  • Or if oral medication becomes ineffective, then treatment with insulin is initiated.
